Keeping Your Resolution?

Written on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012 @ 11:10 am

It’s three days into the new year; and have you kept your resolution? We all want to accomplish unattainable goals each year; and ultimately we fail very fast. So today, start over, read these tips and create new goals to feel great throughout 2012!

1) Create Realistic Goals – Resolutions such as losing 100 pounds by only eating vegetables can sometimes be unrealistic. However, having a goal such as joining Weight Watchers and attending all January meetings is attainable. Or want more time with your significant other? Hoping for  a luxury vacation to Tahiti to rekindle the romance may not be in the budget. However, making a resolution to have a date night each month to focus on your relationship is more realistic. This is easy and a great way to show each other some love.

2) Get a Buddy – I sometimes have a hard time making it to the gym; and when I do workout I focus only on my lower body. Well, now I have a great friend going to the gym with me. Gym time will be fun and social. Also, she likes to focus on the upper body; and this will help me create a new gym routine.

Plus, having a diet buddy is the best way to keep weight loss goals. It’s a great support system!

3) Don’t Make It About You – Instead of a resolution about you, make it about someone else. Make a goal to be more charitable this year. Examples: donate your time or money to a charity, cook dinner for an elderly neighbor or babysit a friend’s children. Remember giving is so much better than receiving!

I hope these easy steps will help you establish goals that will be kept throughout the whole year. Have a wonderful and happy 2012!
