Chocolate Silk Pie

Written on Friday, August 19th, 2011 @ 10:16 am

This is by far the most decadent and fabulous dessert I have ever made. It was so yummy and delicious, I will only make it a few times a year (for fear I will eat a whole pie by myself…we’ve all be there).  However, this chocolate silk pie is so easy to make, your guests will think you spent all day in the kitchen. Plus, it’s from Kraft Foods!

Ingredients:

1 frozen deep-dish pie crust (9 inch), thawed, 6 squares of BAKER’s Semi-Sweet Chocolate, 10 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened, 2/3 cup sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 3/4 cup cholesterol-free egg product, 1 cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipping Topping

Bake pie crust as directed on package for unfilled one-crust pie; cool completely (Next time I make this dessert, I am going to try a ready-made Oreo or Graham Cracker crust)

Melt chocolate as directed on package; cool slightly. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed for 3 minutes or until light and fluffy. Add melted chocolate and vanilla; mix well. Add egg product. Beat on high speed 2 minutes or until light and fluffy. Spoon into pie crust.

Refrigerate 3 hours or until chilled. Top with the whipped topping. Store leftover pie in the refrigerator.

My idea: After adding the whipping topping, store in the freezer for a few hours. It’s even better served frozen for a tasty, chilly treat!

Leather & Lace

Written on Friday, August 19th, 2011 @ 7:53 am

No, it’s not a Don Henley/Stevie Nicks’ song or a 1980′s Madonna movie…it’s two hot Fall trends coming to a store near you!

Leather skirts are walking the runways and being shown in every style…my personal favorite is the pencil skirt. You’ll look right out of Vogue with a cardigan/cami combo, leather skirt, fishnet stockings and booties.

Lace overlay shirts and blouses are providing a softer/sexier style. Lace is great for day and night; and paired with a leather skirt…there’s no stopping any fashionista.

Leather and Lace can be found at all retailers. Gap’s Black Leather Paneled Skirt retails $248. Ann Taylor Loft’s Lace Overlay w/ Stripe retails $39.50.

My Favorite Fashion Tip…..

Written on Thursday, August 18th, 2011 @ 8:41 am

“Don’t Give Away The Farm”

Yes, we all love to show a little skin; but you don’t need to be practically naked to be attractive.

“Looking truly sexy involves knowing what to bare — and what to keep under wraps.”

When wearing flattering and comfortable clothing, you exude confidence; and confidence is sexy! Let’s leave a little to the imagination and you will attract the “right” man, job, etc.

Example: Going to an evening event and love your shoulders – wear a one-shoulder, mid-length sheath dress. It’s a very flattering and comfortable look that brings out your inner Jackie O.

Fall Must-Have: The Petite-Flap Purse

Written on Wednesday, August 17th, 2011 @ 9:55 am

A Fall Must-have is the Petite-Flap Purse. During the chilly Fall months, it will be on every fashionista’s shoulder for work and play. It’s large enough for the essentials (phone, wallet, lip stick, tampon, etc.); and its petite size won’t weigh you down when lunching with girlfriends or shopping with your favorite guy. Plus, find it in all the hot looks including plaid, animal print, leather and sequins. The petite flap purse will definitely rock any Fall look and can be found at all retailers. I have my eye on a leopard print at Fossil and a tweed at Coach (decisions, decisions)!

Bunco Buns

Written on Monday, August 15th, 2011 @ 10:33 am

One of my very best friends is an avid Bunco player; and this is the recipe she serves for her parties.

Ingredients: 1 pkg of 24 party rolls, 1/2 stick of melted real butter, 4 tbsp. poppy seeds, 4 tbsp. mustard, 4 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce, sliced ham and swiss cheese.

Preheat oven to 350°.

In a bowl, mix together butter, poppy seeds, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Spread sauce on both sides of rolls, then put a piece of ham and cheese on each sandwich. On a greased pan, place each sandwich, cover and bake for 15-20 minutes or until cheese melts.

Not only is the recipe great for Bunco games, but for any fun get-together!
